2) Regrowth
I thought for a few weeks there that the Mandarins had already migrated out, but then on Sept 7 I saw them again. Here's what the male looked like then, 53 days after full eclipse. It looks like he'd told his barber to leave his side whiskers long, but cut his hair short at the back. And the rest of him, while more colorful than 6 weeks before, was looking pretty scrawny and scruffy.

A superb image of that duck, Ann. It looks as if it had been raining, which would perhaps account for its scruffy look.
