3) After a while ... (Larus marinus)

While I sat and couldn't see, the others were commenting on the bird's struggle, laughing at comical attempts, groaning when he dropped it again. Then suddenly a cheer went up - he'd actually done it! I stood to see, and when I got a view, this was what I saw. It took some time before the last of that fish's tail went down his gullet. I think at this stage there was nothing the gull could do but wait for his digestion to deal with the head end and clear space for the rest. After a bit, the gull tried to fly over to the slightly larger islet a few meters away. He was baaaarely able to get his belly above the water, actually dipping it a couple of times, almost like skipping a rock from one shore to the next.

being so stuffed, and barely able to fly he could have been an easy prey for the eagle himself lol
that was a splendid story, Ann, with wonderful photos, congratulations, many tfs!!!
 
What a brilliant story line....really well captured. Just observing reality is so rewarding. I wonder if we are being observed !!! For Ann
