A Day in Paradise-LS-354 (Anser indicus)

A Day in Paradise...
___________

Off to Bharatpur ...

A three-days break
( ... starting tomorrow )
to Keoladeo National Park
Bharatpur ...
Half a day each of
travel time
From Delhi ...
and two-days stay in
the Forest Rest House ...

The FRH at KNP
Shanti Kutir ( Peace-cottage )
has
quite a history ...

It was used as
the Hunting Lodge by
the Rulers of Bharatpur
in Princely India ...

In 1938, as was the
annual convention
then ...

the erstwhile
Hindu King of the
state invited the then
British Viceroy of India
Lord Linlithgo ... for
a Duck shoot ... and
the Lord eliminated
4273 water-fowls
in one shoot alone ...

Out go compassion
Peace and equanimity
... Buddha and Jesus

... in come

Passion ( nay Lust )
... Shot-guns
and gun-shots ...

... there is a
stone in the
park to remind one of
the event ...
... In what is mentioned
as the best Bird-area in
the World ...
by
none other than

Sir Peter Scott
( Link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keoladeo_National_Park )
__________

Quite a happening
... It was

I'll be breathless
To match that ..
Even with a
Fast modern camera ...
....

What a relief ...
... Though
We are
Celebrating
Christmas
Soon ...

A beautiful image, Alok, and a great narrative to contemplate. I wonder what Scott would have thought of the Pope's comment the other day. I was glad to hear my dog will be allowed in heaven. Hope I will. lol

Om my!!! This is beautiful Alok. It would make such a lovely painting to hang on the wall.

Have a great time at Keolado - it really sounds to be a wonderful place to go to.

Beautiful group picture, and thanks for the interesting information that goes with the photo Alok

A fantastic stop-action and group shot going on here Alok.

A wonderful capture. The tranquil atmosphere and the beautiful display of life is amazing.
Great together of species, hopefully forever.

We are so fortunate that the birds survived the colonial onslaught :eek!: Now if only we in our own times could show better sense about other abuses, there will be birds to enjoy for many generations to come. Unfortunately, we're not showing a lot of sense yet :S
