a heart-warming sight (Anthropoides virgo)

each day in the lake in front of our hotel the over-wintering cranes would start to arrive in their hundreds, leaving to roost in the late afternoon. They are said to be part of the huge flock that are fed by the villagers of Khichan in the desert to the west, which is said now to be more than 20,000 birds strong.
