A new duck
Eventually Peter and Adrienne dragged me away from Laratinga and we headed up into the Adelaide Hills.

After a rather nice lunch at a cafe run by a friend, we found ourselves overlooking a lake at Jones R Hahndorf. Way over the other side, having a quiet snooze were a couple of Pink-eared Ducks.

Think you can just see the pink behind the eye.

You can barely see the pink but it is an unusual color to find on any bird ;)

Ooooh! You were so lucky to see them so close!!! I saw some on day 2, but too far away for a decent shot :(
