Acorn Woodpecker (male) (Melanerpes formicivorus)

Texture is an element of an image that integral to the overall impression the image may make the the viewer. So it was that the texture between the feathers of the bird and the grain in the fence rail contrast with each other.
I had just put the fence up with aesthetics in mind and with line of sight for the birds to land on (alway think possibilities around the yard for photographic potentials). This time of year there is vertually no green colours; all is values of browns and yellows.
