Photo of the Day: This quirky little African Scops Owl was photographed by Adam Riley. The African Scops Owl measure in at just 14-18cm. They are nocturnal birds who, if disturbed during the day, elongate their bodies and lean sideways to resemble the branches in which they roost. In southern Africa the African Scops Owl can be found in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and northern and south-eastern South Africa
