All puffed up, and no where to go!

All puffed up, and no where to go! (Aphelocoma californica)

This Western Scrub-Jay, from the califonica group, sub species A.c. hypoleuca, was getting all puffed up, I think just to cool down. Our summer heat is starting to get here, and the thermometer showed 106 F yesterday, at 2500 feet. One of the ranch hands said it showed 110 on his wall thermometer, in the shade!

Great shot! We've almost certainly finished with hot weather for the time being - my commiserations!
