Alligator Gar
Alligator Gar (Atractosteus spatula: Lepisosteidae) This gar species is the largest member of its family. The largest individual on record measured 2.572 m (8.84 ft) weighing 148 Kg (326.3 lbs). This and many others that were present appeared to be ca. 1 m (3.3 ft) long.
Habitat
Resaca savanna with Tamaulipan Scrub and scattered ponds in the South Texas Plains vegetational area at ca. 23 m (75 ft) elevation. Moving water in a canal feeding the ponds.
Location
Estero Llano Grande State Park, Weslaco, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA.

That is one huge alligator and you got yourself and us a great shot of it Stanley!
 
splendid closeup, Stanley!!! never heard of this one before, looked on wikipedia, interesting fish species indeed. superb details here, top marks, many tfs!!
