American Avocet (Recurvirostra americana)

Often mistaken for a breeding plumage adult, the juvenile American Avocet has a paler, less extensive cinnamon wash on its head, strongest on the nape and not extending to the breast. Note also the uniformly fresh, clean rounded tips to the white scapular feathers.
