American Kestrel (Falco sparverius)

I was out on an errand this morning and happened to see this Kestrel perched on a highline wire next to the road. At first, I thought it was a Mourning Dove which are here in abundance, but as I got closer, I could see it was something I haven't seen since I started birding, so I stopped and took some photos. I could tell it was a falcon of some kind, but had to get home and look in my field guide to see what my latest 'lifer" was.
