American Robin male

American Robin male (Turdus migratorius)

Just dreaming of seeing them again in the Spring! Taken in the early morning sun as he was perched on one of the new Oaks planted by the Blue Jays in my field!
He & his Mrs ended up making a wonderful nest in a pine right next to my front porch. They were gracious enough to allow me to witness the whole process(minus the conception part, lol) and watched as their four young ones outgrew their nest and ventured off. One thing for sure, those babies kept mama and papa busy with the feedings!
Sadly, I read in Opus(thanks to BF for Opus), that "Bird banders found that only 25% of young robins survive the first year" so only one out of the four I saw fledge possibly made it. :( Maybe because they've moved to the cities?
Habitat
Open woodland and clearings in forest, farmland with copses and hedgerows
Location
NE Ohio
Date taken
May 06
Scientific name
Turdus migratorius
Equipment used
Kodak easyshare, 6.1 megapix
Love the markings and colour combo on these birds, nice take, lucky you.
