American Robin
Deanneart

American Robin (Turdus migratorius)

I've had a flock of about fifteen of these Robins in the area for a week or so. I had a wonderful time the other day observing this bird doing a thorough preening. I probably took 60 shots or so of this behavior. It would work on a section of feathers at a time and then fluff itself up so it looked like a ball with a beak and then would begin to work on another section of feathers. When finished it did this most elegant wing stretch, then did the same on the other side and flew off. It probably took about fifteen to twenty minutes to complete. Hope you enjoy this image which I liked the best of the lot.
