American Robin (Turdus migratorius)

Just looked out the window and saw three of these guys hopping around on the only meager patch of open ground we have in our yard right now. I always feel a bit sorry for them when they get here and the ground is covered with snow. I wonder what they eat and how they get by. Of course they don't come to feeders or eat peanut butter or suet that I know of, so I am of no help to them. But we have robins every year, so I guess they know how to survive in these conditions. Always nice to see them. Sure sign spring is on the way!

Have you ever tried them with meal worms Bill? I find nearly all the birds that come to me love them. If they won't go on a feeder, just sprinkle them on the ground.

Isn't he looking smart and ready for the girls.

A lovely shot of this handsome robin, together with an interesting narrative, wonderview !!! Thanks for sharing.

Every living bird is a miracle to me. Their ranking in the food chain is not making wildlife photographers very happy. Wonderful capture.

Excellent capture Bill :t: Nice details, and colors. The Robin does eat wild berries that are out there buddy.

LOL, yummy ice worms! Gorgeous picture of this handsome chap surrounded by snow. Fabulous work Bill!!!!

Great capture. I love this time of year when they all come out. Around here where I live, they go into the woods for the winter, I have always wondered what they ate during that time.
