American Rubyspots

American Rubyspots (Hetaerina americana)

A river at my local park has one bank supported by a stone wall due to past flooding. A variety of plants grow out of that wall, and the local damselflies like to use those as perches.
This is an older photo taken by coming up as quietly as possible, and learning that rubyspots are evidently bold enough to let me put a phone very close to them by moving slowly enough. Must remember to go back to this spot with a proper camera. I know rubyspots are still present, and I know there are still plants in this wall, though likely not that exact plant.
