An ash coloured salt pecker (Pluvialis squatarola)

Never realised that this bird can arouse so much debate in bird forum. Looks like some call it Grey, and others call it black-bellied. Amazed to find that this bird exists almost everywhere in the world. Almost akin to humans. Guess its going to be called different things in different places. https://avibase.bsc-eoc.org/species.jsp?avibaseid=27903EF7E618A6A2

Hence I have decided to call it by its Tamil name (from my state in India) - a Sambal Uppukothi.

Sambal - Ash (hence grey)
Uppu - salt
kothi - pecker
Habitat
Seashore
Location
Tulum, Mexico
Date taken
April 2018
Scientific name
Pluvialis squatarola
Equipment used
Canon EOS 450d, 100-400

That's a lovely picture Sandeep. Don't they have beautiful black eyes.

Grey Plover is used by most authorities I believe, Black-bellied is just an alternative name, and I think better suits their summer plumage, so is used more by those who seem them during the breeding season.
