ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRD
Anna's Hummingbird, male, in flight. Taken on my back porch.
Habitat
Desert, residential
Location
Scottsdale, AZ, USA
Date taken
March 12, 2013
Scientific name
Calypte anna
Equipment used
Canon 7D, 300 mm f/2.8L, flash
Nice image. However, this is an Anna's: 1) gorget should be more flared, and extend (like handlebar moustache) 2) the area below the throat is dirty (slight markings) indicating Anna's, Costas throat area should be clear and nearly white, 3) tail should be smaller and paddle shaped 4) gorget and crown should be more of a purple color if Costas. Well done. :t: ;)

Digishooter. I stand corrected. You are absolutely correct. This is an Anna's. I was in a rush to post it on my way out this morning. Thanks for your attentiveness!

Larry
