Perhaps 'noisy' refers to the bird's colouration, D., as in wearing 'loud/noisy' colours. Is there another species of miner bird in Australia, of a more subdued hue? If so, maybe the 'noisy' part of the bird's name is to differentiate the two. What do I know, though?
