Arctic Tern stealing shrimp from juv Little Tern (Sterna paradisaea, Sternula albifrons)

As soon as they had plunged and emerged with a prey the juvenile Little Tern were attacked by Arctic Terns cruising around and forced to let the prey go.

Eventually they flew back to their sand bank, letting the parents feed them.

Gosh!! That must have been quite and amazing sight to watch Tord. I didn't realise that terns were pirates!!

A super picture you've taken showing this behaviour. Very well done.
 
An excellent capture of tern behaviour, Tord, I feel a bit sorry for the little guy.
