Asian Koel
Named for their incessant loud calls, these large members of the cuckoo family are maddingly difficult to see as they hide in the dense canopy. Adult males such as this are all black with red eyes and a pale bill. They are brood parasites; here on the Maldives they are limited to House Crow hosts. Formerly lumped with Black-billed and Pacific Koels, this is presumably the nominate race sometimes called "Western Koel."
