Audouin's Gull - record shot! (Ichthyaetus audouinii)

Digiscoped on my usual set up on the beach at the Llobregat delta - the other side of Barcelona airport to the Les Filipines Nature Reserve, near the mouth of the river, 1st March 2009. The bird was one of several seen a few hundred metres distant, from the top of a wobbly wooden viewing platform! Not a great pic therefore, but a great bird, and my first ever view of one.

congratulations on a lifer cool shot , I had 3 in Alicante 2007&8 which kept trying to nick my food on the beach. I couldn't believe my luck! - nice to see their numbers increasing - once defined as the rarest gull in Europe and one of the rarest of the world!

Thanks fellas. It felt good! A couple of days later I had an Alpine Accentor that wouldn't go far enough away for me to digiscope it, so I got more wobbly record shots of that using just a handheld p5100!
