Lately there seems to be a lot of bird eggs hatching in nests near my house. This seemed strange to me since i'd always thought that most birds nested in the spring. One bird created a nest last year under our roof and repeated it once again this year. We came out one day and saw baby birds sitting in it, eyes still closed and beaks held open. We've been watching the babies grow since then. They are about 5 days old and just opened their eyes. (I can't post any pictures of them due to the nest rules unfortunately.)
While out walking, though, I heard the familiar 'peeping' sound that baby birds make and I found this little baby bird sitting in a walnut tree. I took some pictures and watched it for a while. It eventually took flight rather shakily into another nearby tree. I'm guessing it is about 2 weeks old and fresh out of its nest. I haven't a clue what kind of bird it is.
