Baby Goldeneyes

Baby Goldeneyes (Bucephala clangula)

I'm just gonna fast forward for a bit now and share some pics from the last few days. The weather has turned seasonally glorious at last, I've been out for some long hikes, and been having some luck with the camera. F'rinstance, here are two of the seven Goldeneye ducklings I saw on the pond at Ringve Botanical Garden last Friday. While human babies all start out with blue eyes that later may darken, Goldeneye ducklings start out with brown that later lighten to gold.

Hi, Doc.

I've told the S.P. Ducks that
if they don't shut up and let me
get a word in edgewise, they'll
soon find themselves slowly rotating
on the spit which I've shoved up
their collective parson's nose.
Ah! Silence. My threat seems to
have worked. Now peace reigneth,
I'll just say that this is a supercute
picture of these supercute baby
Goldeneyes. Well captured.

Best wishes,
Sefton Park Alex. x

Hi, Doc.

If S.P. Alex thinks that his silly threats
can keep us quiet, he's very much mistaken.
We certainly aren't going to let this photo pass
without saying that these lovely baby Goldeneyes
bring out all our maternal instincts. A beautiful picture.

Best wishes,
The (female) Sefton Park Ducks. xx

Aaaaaw!!! Oh Ann.... aren't they adorable!

That's a wonderful picture lass - many thanks for the smile.

I don't recall the pond there... guess we missed it out in the bucketing rain LOL
