Baby Safe

This evening I was carrying my washing indoors when all hell broke loose, my songthrush pair were flying around making one helluva racket, one even landed on my shoulder screeching frantically before flying off again. I saw that they were dive bombing the cat from across the road that had caught one of the little ones. Needless to say, the washing went on the ground and I went after the cat, yelling at it to leave it and to my surprise it did, the little one took refuge under my car and I took the cat back to it's owner. Back home I looked under my car but it had gone, a peep round the corner found it sat near the ground with mum up above it, was just about to go in home when the cat jumped back over the gate, off I went with it again, this time I decided to sit on my doorstep in case it dared to try AGAIN!! I sat there for one and a half hours til little one was back safely with mum and dad. Here is the little one looking ok, fingers crossed. Luckily the cat had only just caught it! What a night!!

What an adventure, Julie! Glad it had a happy ending! The youngster certainly looks none the worse for its near-death experience.
We seem to have Fieldfare fledglings all over the place at the moment. Took a few pictures yesterday.

Over here most councils are forcing cat owners to install enclosed runs or to keep their cats in the house. Wandering cats are caught and put down if the owners are repeat offenders. Well saved Julie, I hope there is no further incursion. Personally I hate cat owners that think it is okay to let their cats kill things because it is "just their nature".

I dont have anything against cats, I love them, just hate it when they catch the birds. I have one myself but she's not allowed out when the birds are out unless I am out there with her, she's a bit old for chasing things now o:)

A dramatic tale Julie! The little one looks OK and I commend you for your care!!

I live next door to three cats so no longer put a bird box in my garden after one soul destroying time a couple of springs ago.

Beautiful moments and another very sensitive and expressive close-up,Julie!!

Well done Julie,i do believe this is the biggest threat to garden fledglings so we have to do all we can to protect em,cats have a right to be here but so has my dog...lol.
