It was a bit of a surprise to find this picture in the folder as I didn't think I'd seen a Yellowhammer this year, in fact I'd not seen one since April last year!

Sad really, as I've always been able to rely on Loch of the Lowes to see them.

sometimes scrolling through the photos brings indeed some nice surprises, Delia!!! this yellowhammer seems quite faithful, top class, many tfs!!!

A positive surprise for you. Brilliant cut out curve in the wood to get a glance of its neon-yellow back.

They're now Red-listed by the RSPB, in serious decline now.

About 5 years ago I heard 13 calling 'hammers between home and Kinnordy. The last few years I've heard none! Loch of the Lowes would have about a dozen at the feeders, and that's the only one I've seen there this year! Very very sad.

That sure isn't good to hear D. Any thoughts from RSPB as to the decline?
