Bald Eagle juvie

Today I went for a walk along a road that leads deep into the woods. I came to a path that leads down to a large stream. When I reached the stream I startled this eagle, who was standing at the waters edge. It took off in a big sweeping turn that brought it eye level with me and about 20 feet away as it went by. To see a bird this size, and with a 6 to 8 foot wingspan go by that close...well...awestruck would describe it well. Of course I didn't get a shot of that moment, it happened so fast and I was too dumbfounded. But I did get this one after I went back to the road, as he soared around watching me, careful to stay with the sun behind him. My poor point and shoot camera would only give me this vaguely eagle shaped piece of noise for my efforts, but it's a good reminder of that moment, and it will have to do. lol

At least you had a great experience being so close to the eagle. Nice job of catching it in flight.
