Bar-shoulderd Dove

Bar-shoulderd Dove (Geopelia humeralis)

Another lifer - obviously, since it's an Aussie endemic and I'd never been there before. They have some marvelous, brassy-coloured iridescence on their necks and wings. Not showing in this image, but I have one later that captured some of that. This image shows how pretty the underside of their tails is. Surprisingly, that feature wasn't shown or described in my field guide, so it took me a while to work out what bird this was ... but I got there.

Nice shot of this lovely dove Ann (well, most doves are lovely birds, with the possible exception of Woodpigeons, much as I like em). Yes, very surprising the undertail pattern wasnt mentioned in your guide! Thanks for the evocative narrative. And congrats on getting a lifer.
