Bartolome Island, Galapagos

An early morning view of Santiago Island from the top of Bartolome Island. Easy climb on a wooden walkway, with lots of steps! If you have watched the movie, Master and Commander, this is the view that they show for their stop in the Galapagos Islands, when the ship's surgeon goes ashore! The rock formation, called Pinnacle Rock in the middle of the photo, is not a volcanic plug, as I first thought, but just a result of weathering over thousands of years.

Spectacular view and picture Helen. Thanks for the narrative, I would have assumed it to be a volcanic cone. What an amazing trip! TFS!
