Bay Wren
Bay Wren (Thryothorus nigricapillus costaricensis) Seven subspecies are recognized with only subspecies costaricensis mapped for Costa Rica. This loud and persistent vocalist was still hard to find and even harder to get a clear picture of. Sexes similar. We stood meters away from it with it singing on numerous occasions without even getting a glimpse of it (frustrating). Photographed near Buenos Aires, Cordillera de Guanacaste, north-slope of Rincon de La Vieja Volcano, Caribbean-slope, Costa Rica. Lower montane cloud forest at ca. 650 m (2,133 ft) elevation.

Nice wee thing, isn't it. You've a great shot here Stanley, of a bird we don't see too often.

Another great image, Stanley. I have taken quite a few shots of this beautiful little bird, but none are very good. I think it's because my Sony superzoom has a hard time focusing because there is so much contrast on this bird. I see (and hear!) them nearly everyday and just love them. Great photo.

Well, your persistence was well rewarded with this shot! That's one thing I love about wrens. I can hear them, and if I stay still eventually I can see them, and if I stay still even longer then eventually I get a decent shot of one. |:d|
