Beach stone-curlew ( thick-knee )
This is one of a pair that had two chicks last year but hve returned to the area they laid. Hopefully the chicks have moved on to a safe haven elsewhere.

Excellent picture, I photographed a pair in Weeting Heath UK but had to use a teleconverter so the quality was no where near as good, are these birds common in OS?
 
Oh Trevor, he looks so miserable! ;) Great work, this is a beautiful shot of this bird! I've never seen one, so I appreciate the photo.
