Beach Stone Curlew
Beach Stone Curlew (formerely known as the Beach Thick Knee). Although considered an uncommon or rare bird this photo was taken from the Esplanade at Cairns, Qld. After all the other birds were created the Beach Stone Curlew was supposedly made up from the left over bits.
Scientific name
Burhinus giganteus
Welcome to the Forum, HH! And congrats on a great shot.

Your picture reminds me of the other stone curlew (bush, not beach), uttering their weird cries every evening when I was in Kakadu six months ago.

What a stonking image of a great looking bird to open your account with, well done. Welcome to Birdforum.Net, and look forward to seeing more of your work.

Nice shot! I do not think it is that common. Certainly a scarcity in most parts in Southeast Asia.
