Excellent shot, digi - I see nothing wrong with a bird isolated against a blue sky. Complex backgrounds can detract from the bird at times.

Beautiful image of a normally difficult photograph bird. I love the angle and the blue sky. They are usually perched higher than an observer and the blue sky is an wonderful backdrop. Fantastic detail and clarity. Excellent exposure. I'd be very pleased to taken this shot. Well done!
 
Lol, we can't carry a ladder in our car all the time. I think this angle is perfectly OK and this is a fabulous image!
