Berry Burglar (Bombycilla garrulus)

They were certainly living up to their reputation this morning. I came across a flock of around 70 here on Firday but today in better light there's only around 20 left at this location. Not many berries left either.
Location
Hawkestone Close, Billingham, Cleveland. UK
Date taken
23rd November 2008
Scientific name
Bombycilla garrulus
Equipment used
Canon 40D+Canon 400mm f5,6
A great shot of this stunning male. You captured the action of swallowing the berry beautifully.

You are so lucky to get these birds, I have never seen one down here in the south.
Great shot Ian.

Yes I watched a flock of 70+ birds myself yesterday. How I wish the light had been good like it was for you. Beautiful photo.

Great shot Ian,of a bird I have yet to see.

Well now Ian! YOu couldn't have gotten a better image of this bird. Brilliant! the yellow of the berries pics up those colors in the wings. The berry in the mouth carries the color and leads the eye up to the clump in the upper left of the image then the large clump draws the eye back into the image and to the bird. Brilliant composition and beautiful sharp bird. Sorry to analyze but this is so darned good I couldn't help myself.

WOW and re-WOW, Ian!!! :eek!: Howling beautiful, fantastic light and neatness and love the yellow "patches" in the image!!! A picture to faint for!!! :loveme:
