Big Red and his prize!

When I put peanut butter/suet mixtures out,I'll often smear it in the knothole of the cut off and crooked branch of this guy is on here. The woodpeckers love it there, they can perch comfortably and nibble. However, it was very cold this morning, and I think the mixture froze. Usually they can't get big gobs of it all at once, but he seems to have peeled the whole thing out of the branch. He was very happy, and took off with it in his beak very quickly to go eat in private!

Nice catch, and closeup plus a interesting story too. Looks like this bird is eating good in the neighbor Bill
