Bird Feeders (Accipiter nisus)

Guess there's more than me keeping an eye on the feeders! Don't think he made a catch this time as he chased a small bird in to the hedge and had skulked back out within a couple of minutes. Might have to prune the tree back though!

A real beauty. We've plenty of them around here but I've never seen one with such instensely coloured orange eyes.

Thanks for the nice comments guys. I took about 8 shots before he turned his attention to me and hard-stared. I could see him making a move and tried to get a flight shot as he dropped and flew left - all the way down the allotment at a height of about 2 feet and past the bumper of the car. I also tried to find a shot where his eyes weren't such a blazing orange, buy they realy are that strong!

It was only the end of October that I set up the feeders at the allotment as there is small presence all year round, but I have now seen chaff/green/gold and my first male bullfinch today - that had made by day until Capt Jack Sparrowhak crashed in - great/blue/LTT and heard Coalie. Jay around as are millions of magpies, Field Fare, Song Thrush, Blackbird and Robin, Sparrows a pair of Pied Wagtails stopped to inspect the flooded car park. Been great and like I say only just begun.
