Black billed gull (Larus bulleri)

I know just another gull but this one happens to be the most threatened gull species in the world and of cause it has to be here in NZ! I am told that the leg ring makes this bird around 17 yrs old.
Location
Thames
Scientific name
Larus bulleri
Alas, I hope that great photos such as this are not all you have to see him with some day. I had no idea that gulls live that long. Thanks for the interesting info about this species. We should never take any of them for granted, even 'just another gull'. Good work!

A very handsome gull! So sad to hear they're endangered! Biologists say we're in the sixth mass extinction, and this time it's one species's fault - ours. I hope we can manage to turn it around :eek!:

Splendid capture Tom :t: Nice exposure! Hope some efforts are being made to help save them.

Absolutely gorgeous capture of this gull. Interesting information on its age. I do hope the numbers will gain because someone cares about them.
