Black-capped Chickadee

It was a really mild day today with beautiful sunshine. It's strange, though, because lately I seem to have better luck with bird photos when it's extremely cold or snowing.

Of course there were chickadees around. I was able to catch a shot of this one near the end of my hike. Sort of a mixed lighting situation in this one. But I've been looking for shots like this where the subject was shaded and the background lit. I'm sort of going for a background of glowing colour. I think there's some potential. I'll see how far I can take this little experiment!

And go on with those background experiments, I think backdrops are so important... I like when they speak for themselves!
