Thanks - the shape, colouring and beak profile all came through enough to identify - no detail tho. Gone from Chile tomorrow but maybe be back in 6 months to resume the second half of our trip.

For me looks like a Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle (Geranoaetus melanoleucus) and not a Condor.

Well I certainly have to bow to your expertise ....it was a long way up and it did not seem to have the wingspan. I also think that is what my partner and I saw but could not photograph. There is definitely a cowl too. Thanks.
