I was at the Corte Madera Marsh (Corte Madera, California) trying out the Canon EOS-R with 500mm f/4 and came across this barely visible heron after dark. It was fully after sunset in the evening. The photo is manual focus on a monopod with the Canon 430EXii flash and Better Beamer flash lens. The eyes have animal red-eye from the flash. The EFV on the EOS-R, I think, helped make the shot possible as it brightened up the image as much as it could.
