Black-Headed Grosbeak (female) (Pheucticus melanocephalus)

If ever there is a bird that has manners, this is it. The black-headed Grosbeak is a bird that can be described as polite and well mannerd. They tend to let other birds displace them at feeders (though at times they will defend their own); when feeding they don't hurry, and their movements are very deliberate and sedate. They are also (at least the males are) shy. They have a very sweet call, but the song can be lusty and complicated. They remind one of gentele personages who would be offended if ever there comportment were ever questioned.
