Black Kite (Milvus migrans)

An adult Black Kite perching on a tree stump on the edge of the Stone Pine forest at the Dehesa de Abajo( the bird is ringed). This bird is one of the breeding colony of c20 pairs which nest in the forest along with 3 pairs of Booted Eagles. The Dehesa de Abajo is the site of the largest White Stork colony in Europe-all nesting in trees. The area also holds large numbers of Bee-eaters, Hoopoes & many small passerines. If you are ever in the Donana area in Spring this is a must-visit site.
