Black on green (Euphagus cyanocephalus)

Iceplant is an introduced and invasive species. At Ao Nuevo State Park I once participated in a volunteer work day devoted to digging it out so as to replant the park with native species. But where it still grows it does serve some purpose(s): stabilizing erosion-susceptible sand dunes and sandstone cliffs, and serving as a photogenic setting for saturated-colored birds ;)

That's beautiful green iridescence you've got there Ann.

This guy doesn't look any happier though, does he LOL!!

terrific shot Doc(Ann?) and a great contrast you've got from the iceplant. The S.Africans imported Port Jackson from Oz as a bush to stabilise the dunes which is now totally invasive and almost impossible to eradicate....sound familiar

It does make a lovely back drop for the monotone bird! The lovely lighting really makes this shot as black or red colors are difficult to get right! Wonderful image Ann! tfs it!
