Black Oystercatcher
I thought the bill of this Black Oystercatcher looked more blunt than usual, perhaps indicating an injury, but in checking my photos I see that this shape is not unusual. The bill is rather like a chisel, and is laterally compressed to aid in opening oysters and mussels. Finally got a decent shot of the eye!
