The black-throated prinia (Prinia atrogularis) is a species of bird in the Cisticolidae family. It is found in the eastern Himalayas from Nepal to western Myanmar. It was formerly considered conspecific with the hill prinia.
1620 cm; 816 g. A large prinia with rather slender, slightly decurving bill and very long graduated, pointed tail.
Song (nominate race) a repeated series of scraping buzzy notes, almost mechanical in tone.
Food chiefly insects and their larvae. Normally encountered singly or in pairs, and usually very skulking.
