Black-throated Sparrow (Amphispiza bilineata)

Formerly known as the "Desert Sparrow," only adults have a black throat. Juveniles such as this have a white throat. This denizen of the arid Southwest is a very rare migrant in our area. Possibly a refugee from the wild fires ravaging much of the West, this lost individual has become a celebrity in our local birding community.

Oh dear.... I do hope he finds a safe place to weather those devastating fires Joe and can find somewhere permanent to live after they've subsided. A dreadful situation - keep safe yourself lad.
