Blackbird (Turdus merula)

Where to find the cranes in the "stop 2" shot yesterday: Just left of center foreground there are three birches that are taller than the others. Between the top branches of the leftmost birch is a pale blob. That's a crane. To the right of the top branches of the rightmost birch are two slightly darker blobs - the other two cranes. There may also be cranes waaayyyy in the background, behind the tarn.

Now back to working my way up-to-date. Here come three from the first day of my Wales trip. There were blackbirds at the feeder just outside the cafe terrace at the Biology building. Hard to blur my way to them through the leaves, so I was rather disappointed with the shots, but this one does show those interesting fleshy bits that form the yellow "spectacles" around his eyes.

Well.... you have to take what you're given sometimes Ann - if they're hiding behind the foliage there's nowt to be done about it is there!!

You've got lovely eye contact - well done.

Well done with this Blackbird hiding behind the foliage. Excellent focusing through the vegetation Doc!!!

The blurred foreground adds a bit of interest to what would otherwise have been "just another close-up" ;)
