Lovely image Colin - but he does need a bath/drink!

Birds desperately need water in freezing weather to keep from hypothermia- they need to preen their feathers with oil from the glands which insulate them but to do that, feathers need to be in good condition which requires water for bathing. They also need to drink - eating snow can also cause hypothermia!

A tip - empty your bird bath at night in the winter then it won’t be full of frozen ice in the morning! 🙂

We provide fresh water daily in a different container. Currently, birdbath and fountain frozen solid and could well crack trying to chip out the ice.
