Blue-faced Malkoha

Blue-faced Malkoha (Phaenicophaeus viridirostris)

If there is one thing I have learnt while birding, it is to expect the unexpected! I was on a lake bank & fortuitously saw a movement in a very dense tree. Waited patiently shifting my position trying to get as clear a view as possible. Finally, after about 15 minutes I could get in a couple of shots at this one before it vanished again in to the thicket. Have to put it down as a lifer for now, though it is not a very clear picture.

Consider yourself blessed S K and congrats on your lifer guy. This is only the 11th image we have of this rarity to the BF Gallery. Congrats again ;)

Congratulations on your lifer,SK. It can be frustrating to try and capture a bird in a dense thicket. You did very well. The eye and bill show very nicely.
