Fabulous shot of Karnataka's state bird. Always know this species as the Indian Roller and have never heard it called a Blue Jay before. Surpising quality here for a X2 TC.
Michha62 : You are absolutely right, this is the Indian Roller. The other name for this is Blue Jay. The Nikkor 300mm f2.8 is a awesome lens and along with Nikon TC-20E II (2X convertor), you will be able get a high quality image with a high degree of detail. All you need to do then is to increase the sharpness slightly in any post processing software, I use Gimp which is freely available.
I actually like the lack of DOF in this photo. The bird is so beautiful and the photo such a good one that (in my humble opinion) it is all that is needed.
