These birds are a laugh a minute lately. They are amazing piggies at the feeders. (No worries, I have enough feeders for the little guys too) Anyway, I've recently started putting out a mixed bird seed that has peanuts and other tree nuts on a platform feeder with the cold temps. The Jays think it's really great stuff! There are about eight Jays that come in like dive bombers several times a day. They swoop in gobble up as much as they can then fill their crops and beaks until there are literally three or four peanuts sticking out of their beaks and fly off with it. I'm assuming they are stashing it someplace as I can't imagine they could possible consume that much in a day.
